Field Building

ChangeScale exists to support environmental education organizations, translating their enthusiasm and action into measurable change. We accomplish this goal by hosting a regular calendar of professional development opportunities, community building, and information sharing.

Professional Development and Community Building: Through four annual “convenings” ChangeScale provides high-quality professional development opportunities that link practitioners and researchers, translating the latest thinking and advances into culturally relevant, higher-quality environmental education. Our events build connections between environmental education organizations, fostering the relationships, awareness, and trust that support meaningful collaboration.

Integrating Research into Practice: ChangeScale is a vehicle for sharing and distilling relevant research and evidence-based practices, and applying lessons learned to program design and pedagogy. ChangeScale acts as a laboratory for primary research on environmental education, coalescing secondary research related to environmental education, and using evidence to build support for environmental education. In partnerships with researchers and evaluators, ChangeScale’s Research Council aims to contribute to the body of knowledge for environmental education, collaboration, and learning pathways, and document our own collective impact.

Membership: All organizations associated with environmental education in the San Fransisco and Monterey Bay Areas are invited to join ChangeScale as institutional members. Over the past year, ChangeScale has engaged more than 170 organizations through our gathering and workshops.

Communications and Data Sharing: ChangeScale also facilitates connections across the community through communications tools that build ties between our convengings. Join our newsletter to stay connected, and check out the Environmental Education Research Bulletins to learn about the latest research relevant to our field.

Today’s workshop is exactly what we in EE need. You are on the cutting edge! Thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of it. Please keep me in the loop for future events, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
