Adult Education Coordinator

This position reports to the Director of Education and supports the Education Team, managing 5 direct reports and 18-22 seasonal reports. Deep interdepartmental collaboration is key to department and organization achievement of ambitious goals. Ability to move easily between strategic, long-term planning and tactical day-to-day operations.

Salary range: $85,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience

The San Mateo County School Farm (SMCSF), operated by THP, is a 2 acre diversified fruit and vegetable farm in El Granada, California. SMCSF grows annual vegetables, berries, cut flowers and culinary herbs. Produce is primarily used in THP’s educational programming, sold at the Coastside Farmers’ Market, and donated to local aid organizations. Over 3,000 students visit SMCSF annually to learn about sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and nature connection.

Job Summary: The HEAL Project Farm Manager (FM) develops and manages the San Mateo County School Farm to provide a high quality experience for students and farm visitors. As the primary caretaker of SMCSF, the FM manages crop rotation, planning and maintenance. The FM is also responsible for enhancing and growing The HEAL Project Farmers’ Market booth and other produce sales. The FM is responsible for general farm oversight and labor, infrastructure development, budget, and maintenance of THP farm site. The FM facilitates volunteer experiences for youth and adults at the farm as well as hosts community visitors as needed. The FM may develop additional programming to achieve organizational mission and sustainability in collaboration with program staff and Executive Director.

Camp groups are small to ensure that campers enjoy personal, rich explorations alongside skilled staff, volunteers, and peers. Camp staff create an environment that empowers campers to question, investigate, and imagine.

Postdoctoral Scholar: Studying Youth Community Action and Science

Center for Community and Citizen Science at UC Davis

The Center for Community and Citizen Science (CCCS) seeks an accomplished science education researcher to join a collaborative team working on across multiple projects. A key role for this scholar will be to join a large-scale National Science Foundation DRK12-funded research and development project. In addition to joining the Our Forests project team, the Postdoctoral Scholar will collaborate with Center Faculty Director Heidi Ballard in developing new projects related to CCS outcomes for youth and communities. They will be an important member of the growing community of faculty, staff, and students that make up the Center for Community and Citizen Science at UC Davis, and have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the education research activities of the Center into the future.

Hidden Villa

Hidden Villa Summer Camp boasts being the first multicultural overnight camp in the nation. Our mission is to foster educational experiences that build connections and inspire a deeper appreciation and respect for nature, food, and one another.

Their 2023 summer camp jobs are now open and we are in search of dynamic young adults to fill these positions. Our summer camp staff have the option to live onsite and all meals are provided. The summer begins with a week of dynamic leadership training. All staff will complete first aid and have the option of earning lifeguard and high ropes certification (these certs equate to higher pay).

Camp staff will meet new people and forge friendships that will last a lifetime. They will mentor the next generation of environmental and social justice stewards. Staff will have an opportunity to develop curriculum, hone leadership and management skills, and bolster their resumes.
