Next Generation Science Standards through an Environmental Education Lens

October 24, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Oct. 2014 | Jan. 2015 | Feb. 2015

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) present a tremendous opportunity for the environmental education field to work with schools to advance high-quality science education. Is your organization ready? Are you equipped to create and deliver programming that has students doing science relevant to the 21st century? Are classroom teachers looking to you as a partner and adviser for this shift in practice? Do you have the tools you need make these changes in your curriculum and teaching?

Join us to explore the new standards and examine the implications of their adoption to your programs. Participants will experience the teaching and learning strategies exemplified by NGSS, and explore ways to adjust and improve programming to be of increasing service to schools as they implement the new standards.

Who should attend? This is a train-the-trainer workshop. If you are responsible for one of the following roles in your organization, please consider applying for this workshop:

  • Training educators at your institution or other organizations
  • Designing curriculum for your organization or influencing the development of programs
  • Training or supporting formal educators

We encourage you to attend with a colleague—someone in your own organization or a partner organization who will work with you to modify your programs with NGSS in mind.

Thank you to the Morgan Family Foundation for support of this workshop.
